ITF (Industry Task Force) Association
Effecting positive change in Workers’ Compensation through the views of Alberta employers
“The Industry Task Force on Alberta Workers’ Compensation” was an organization established in 1983 to represent the concerns and positions of Alberta’s employers on workers’ compensation. The formal association was formed in November 1990.
In 1996, by-laws were developed for the “ITF (Industry Task Force) Association”. These by-laws were first adopted in 1997 and remain essentially the same today. The ITF is registered under the Alberta Society’s Act. The vision of the Association is “To effect positive change in policy and legislation through the views of the members of the Association on issues related to Workers’ Compensation in Alberta”. Today, ITF has 22 ‘Company’ members and 8 ‘Association’ members. The annual premiums paid by employers who are members of the ITF, or who belong to the Associations that are members of the ITF, total approximately 50% of the premiums collected by the Workers’ Compensation Board. ITF members employ nearly 40% of the workers covered by WCB-Alberta.
ITF has spent the majority of its time and resources in the past few years as a very interested, knowledgeable and participating stakeholder in both the WCB’s and our government’s proposed changes through the Workers’ Compensation Policy Consultation Process and proposed legislative changes to the WCB Act.
We continually strive to create real, viable and respectful relationships with both the WCB and the Minster of Employment and Immigration, who is responsible for the WCB.The Association is accountable to its membership.
Membership information is available by contacting our administrator, Tes Bewick.
